The problem

Wearable users judge the whole product by the app. The watches needed companion apps that paired reliably, kept data in sync in the background, and did not drain the phone battery.

The approach

  • Implemented the device protocol over CoreBluetooth with a clear connection lifecycle.
  • Built reconnection and background sync that respected iOS background execution limits.
  • Synced activity and health data with de-duplication and HealthKit integration. TODO(verify): confirm HealthKit was used.
  • Tested across watch firmware versions and iPhone models.

Technology

  • Swift
  • CoreBluetooth
  • HealthKit [VERIFY]
  • Background modes
  • Local persistence

The result

  • [RESULT: add a verified outcome, e.g. number of devices supported or pairing success rate]
