The problem
Customers expect to see exactly where their order is. The platform needed a reliable ordering flow and live driver tracking that stayed accurate as drivers moved through dense city streets and patchy mobile coverage.
The approach
- Designed an order state machine shared by the customer, restaurant, and driver flows.
- Streamed driver location with throttling and smoothing so the map moved naturally without draining batteries.
- Handled reconnection and stale-state recovery when the app returned from the background.
- Localized the experience for Italian users.
